Atlanta Faces Severe Weather Threat Tuesday

The danger of violent thunderstorms will reach the Atlanta area on Tuesday.
A shower or thunderstorm will be around through Monday, but Tuesday is when the danger for the thunderstorms to turn severe exists.
That does not mean that residents and visitors should take any thunderstorm lightly though Monday. Remember, you are close enough to be struck by lightning if thunder is heard.
The strongest thunderstorms on Tuesday will be capable of producing damaging winds, hail and flooding downpours. A tornado touching down cannot be ruled out.

The severe weather will erupt from the same storm system threatening the Mississippi Valley with violent thunderstorms and tornadoes on Monday.

Setting the stage for the thunderstorms will be the warm and moist air boosting temperatures into the 80s on Monday. Clouds will hold temperatures to the middle 70s on Tuesday.

Periods of rain and thunderstorms will follow for Wednesday before drier and cooler air sweeps in on Thursday.
