While the week started on a dry note, a slow-moving storm has the potential to unload a couple of inches of rain on the New York area at midweek.
The same storm responsible for severe weather and tornadoes over the Central states the past couple of days will send periods of rain through the mid-Atlantic and into the Northeast Tuesday and Wednesday.
While the rain will alleviate brushfire conditions, it can bring problems on the other end of the spectrum, such as travel delays from flash and urban flooding, as well as poor visibility.
Average temperatures for this time of the year range from a low near 50 F to a high in the middle 60s.
High temperatures will be held to the 40s F in some areas Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski, "Brisk winds off the Atlantic Ocean will create even lower AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures.

During Thursday and Friday, the flow will become more southerly and should allow warmer air to flow northward into the region.
However, the warmer air will not mark an end to the chance of rain. The late-week pattern could allow locally heavy, gust thunderstorms to come calling on one or more occasions.
