Warmth will hold around Washington, D.C., through the weekend and into Monday, but more cool air will arrive next week.
The warm weather will provide a perfect opportunity to view the cherry blossoms, which are now at peak. According to the Capital Weather Gang, this is the second latest peak bloom since 1992.
High temperatures in most areas through Monday will be well into the 70s and could touch 80 in a few spots.
Typical of the spring, the cool waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River and the Atlantic Ocean will exert an influence and can hold temperatures back significantly along the immediate coast, especially along south-facing shorelines.

Chilly air gathering over the northern Canada Prairies will swing onto the Great Plains later this weekend then is forecast to turn eastward next week.
After blissful springtime temperatures over much of the region on Monday, rain will put the brakes on the warming trend on Tuesday.
High temperatures on some days later next week will be in the 50s. The upcoming pattern could bring frost to some of the northern and western suburbs during one or more nights.
The cool weather could linger into Easter Sunday.
