Cold waves will charge the Upper Midwest through late this week and into the weekend, allowing temperatures to trend downward in Minneapolis.
Highs late this week will be in the mid-50s, just a few degrees shy of normal for this time of year, with spotty showers around. Showers should generally hold off until the afternoon hours.
A reinforced shot of chilly air will drive into the area on Saturday. The colder air will be accompanied by more showers, and for some areas farther north across Minnesota, it may be cold enough for wet snow to mix in or fall alone.

First Snow to Reach Upper Midwest This Weekend
The high temperature will be in the upper 40s in Minneapolis on Saturday, and a brisk breeze will make it feel even colder. AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures will be in the 30s. Those partaking in outdoor events or leaf peeping should be prepared with extra layers and jackets.
As showers and the sky clear Saturday night, the low temperature will plummet close to freezing. Sunday will be dry with some sun, but the high will not climb out of the 40s.
