Much more comfortable air settled over the city Friday in the wake of a cold front that moved through early in the day.
An area of rain passed south of the area Friday morning and afternoon, affecting portions of the mid-Atlantic.
Thursday, an upper-air disturbance moved into the region from Ohio, bringing showers and thunderstorms and dumping locally-flooding rainfall over parts of New York State.
Delays due to weather were being reported at both JFK and La Guardia International airports during the late-morning, afternoon and evening hours Thursday.

Humidity will be quite low this weekend with abundant sunshine. High temperatures Saturday and Sunday will be near 80 degrees.
The NFL preseason schedule includes the New York Jets against the New York Giants Saturday evening at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
The temperature for kickoff at 7 p.m. EDT will be in the low to middle 70s under mainly clear skies. Winds will be out of the southeast around 5 mph.
The battle between summer and fall will continue over the next two weeks, according to Long-Range Forecaster Paul Pastelok, as temperatures continue to fluctuate.
"The pattern through the Labor Day weekend looks to be progressive with episodes of warm and cool conditions for the Northeast," Pastelok said.
It will turn unsettled across the entire Northeast early next week, including in New York City. There will be a threat for showers and thunderstorms each day from Monday through Wednesday.
