Severe Storm Risk Along I-90 From Indiana to New York

There is the risk of damaging thunderstorms and blinding downpours in the I-90 corridor from northern Indiana to upstate New York into Wednesday night.
Travel delays are likely as the storms move through the region. As of 10:00 a.m. EDT Wednesday, Cleveland International Airport was already experiencing delays.
As a cool front slices southward into the zone of building warmth and humidity, violent and drenching thunderstorms will continue to erupt Wednesday into Wednesday night.

The storms bring the potential for damaging wind gusts, large hail, frequent lightning strikes and incidents of flash flooding from London, Ontario, and Fort Wayne, Ind., to Toledo, Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio; Erie, Pa.; and Buffalo, N.Y.
The storms will also reach into some of the suburbs around Toronto, Detroit, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.

A couple of the strongest storms could also produce a short-lived tornado.
People spending time outdoors and traveling in these areas should keep an eye out for rapidly changing weather conditions.
If you can hear thunder, you are at risk for being struck by lightning. Downpours can bring sudden near-zero visibility and quickly inundate roadways that drain poorly. Never drive through flooded areas.
The corridor of drenching downpours and gusty thunderstorms will settle farther to the south and east Thursday and Friday.
