Weather Underground midday recap for Wednesday, August 7,2013. Areas
of active weather streamed through the Plains and into the Southeast
Wednesday. This active weather was in the form of scattered showers and
strong thunderstorms that produced heavy rain for numerous areas. The
heaviest of this rain was observed in Missouri, where several inches of
rain caused further flooding problems as rivers rose to historic levels.
Additional scattered thunderstorms developed in the Plains in the morning hours before diminishing into the afternoon.
A low pressure system approached the West Coast and instigated a cooling
trend that will last a couple days and will be accompanied by below
normal temperatures.
Elsewhere, scattered showers popped up in the Rockies and parts of the Southwest, but were not widespread in nature.
The Northeast rose into the 70s, while the Southeast saw temperatures in
the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains rose into the 90s and 100s, while
the Southwest saw similar temperatures
