A cold front will set up the border between stormy weather and building heat across Germany during the middle of the week.
Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered across northern Germany on Wednesday and Thursday, keeping temperatures at seasonable levels for early August.
Meanwhile, heat and humidity will build across the South.
While severe weather is not expected, showers and thunderstorms may dampen outdoor activities and cause slower travel at times from Cologne to Hamburg and Berlin.
Thick clouds are expected on Wednesday with high temperatures ranging from 20-23 C (68-73 F) throughout central and northern Germany.
Farther south, more sunshine and dry weather is expected with temperatures climbing to near 27 C (80 F) in Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich.
The threat for showers and thunderstorms will continue on Thursday across northern Germany as temperatures climb only a degree or two (2-4 degrees Fahrenheit).
Heat and humidity will continue to build across southern and central Germany on Thursday as temperatures soar as high as 30 C (86 F) from Stuttgart to Munich. A high near 28 C (82 F) is expected in Frankfurt.
An increase in humidity will make it feel even warmer.

A potent storm system crossing Germany on Friday will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to parts of southern and eastern Germany, including Stuttgart, Munich, Nuremberg, Dresden and Berlin.
This wet weather will likely impact the start of the Berlin International Beer Festival on Friday.
The potential exists for the strongest storms to produce damaging winds, hail and flash flooding.
"The greatest threat for flooding will be across southern Germany," AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said. "Local amounts over 50 mm (2 inches) are possible."
This storm will exit for the weekend allowing dry and pleasant weather to spread over the country.
