Weather Underground midday recap for Thursday,September 1,2016

Tropical Storm Hermine impacted Florida on Thursday, while rainy conditions moved onshore over the Pacific Northwest.

Tropical Storm Hermine strengthened as it approached the northwest coast of Florida. Hurricane warnings were issued along parts of the eastern Gulf Coast in anticipation of Hermine making landfall. Tropical storm warnings were also issued in northern Florida, southeast Alabama, southern Georgia, eastern South Carolina and southeast North Carolina. Additionally, severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches were issued for central Florida. Apalachicola, Fla., reported a midday total of 1.22 inches of rain. Melbourne, Fla., reported a midday total of 1.06 inches of rain.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area drifted across the Northeast. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system produced a line of thunderstorms from the coast of New England to the southern Appalachians. Ocean City, Md., reported a midday total of 1.36 inches of rain.

A cluster of thunderstorms broke out across the southern Plains on Thursday. Flash flood warnings were issued in southeast Oklahoma. Idabel, Okla., reported a midday total of 1.47 inches of rain. Just to the west, monsoonal thunderstorms continued to develop across the Four Corners and the southern high Plains. Flood advisories were issued for southwest New Mexico.

Additionally, an onshore flow from the Pacific brought light to moderate rain to parts of western Oregon and western Washington.
