Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,September 25,2016

A pair of cold frontal boundaries will impact the eastern half of the country on Sunday, while a ridge of high pressure builds over the West Coast.

A low pressure system will lift northeastward across south central Canada and the upper Great Lakes. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend south southwestward over the upper Mississippi Valley, the central Plains and the southern Plains. As this frontal boundary transitions eastward, it will collide with a warm and humid air mass. This interaction will result in rain and thunderstorms across the northern Plains, the Midwest, the middle Mississippi Valley, the lower Mississippi Valley, the central Plains and the southern Plains. The heaviest rain is expected to occur over the southern Plains on Sunday. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to south central Oklahoma, central Texas, western Texas and southeast New Mexico. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also affect parts of the Gulf Coast and the southern Mid-Atlantic.

Meanwhile, a separate frontal boundary will drift south southeastward over the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic. A blast of cool and dry air will surge across the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England.

Out west, a ridge of high pressure will build over the West Coast and the Great Basin. Most states west of the Continental Divide will experience dry conditions on Sunday. Offshore winds will increase daytime temperatures over a large part of California. Above normal temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds will increase the fire danger across the state.
