Stormy weather impacted portions of the Plains and the Midwest on Wednesday, while above normal temperatures affected the Northwest.

New Ross, Ind., also reported a tornado on Wednesday. Just to the west, flash flood watches were issued in northwest Indiana, southern Iowa, northern Missouri and northeast Kansas. There were also flash flood warnings issued for north central Kansas. Decorah, Iowa., reported a midday total of 2.62 inches of rain. Kansas City International, Mo., reported a midday total of 1.41 inches of rain. Cool and dry weather settled in west of the frontal boundary over the upper Intermountain West and the northern Plains. West Yellowstone, Mont., recorded a morning low of 26 degrees.

Meanwhile, monsoonal thunderstorms continued to pop up across the Four Corners. High pressure brought warm and dry weather to most areas west of the Continental Divide. Palm Springs, Calif., recorded a midday high of 102 degrees. Portland, Ore., recorded a midday high of 75 degrees.
