Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,November 16,2014
National Forecast for Sunday, November 16th, 2014
Thunderstorms will develop along the Gulf Coast on Sunday, while snow showers will affect the Midwest.
An area of low pressure will move south southwestward over the southern Rockies on Sunday. This system will usher light snow showers over the southern and central Rockies, while a mixture of rain and snow will be possible over the lower elevations of eastern Arizona and western New Mexico. High pressure over the Eastern Pacific will keep conditions clear across the Pacific Northwest, the Great Basin and the southwestern corner of the country.
Meanwhile, a pocket of energy will inch across the Gulf Coast. This system will initiate heavy rain and thunderstorms over the western and central Gulf Coast. Moisture will also spread across the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley and the Midwest. Due to a cold, arctic air mass over the region, snow showers will take place over a handful of states from the southern Plains to the upper Midwest. The heaviest snow showers will focus over the middle Mississippi Valley and the Ohio Valley. Additionally, lake effect snow showers will continue to impact the Northeast, especially over northwest Pennsylvania, western New York and northwest New England. The Mid-Atlantic and the coastal New England will avoid precipitation due to high pressure over the Eastern Seaboard.
