From April 14-16, 2011, a powerful storm system produced a tornado
outbreak across Mississippi and Alabama. Some other states that
experienced tornadoes were Illinois, Missouri and Louisiana. In all, 46
tornadoes were confirmed, totaling more than $2 billion in damage and
killing 38 people.
