WeatherFanatics: REPORTS: Damaging Winds, Heavy Rain Rumble Across the Deep South

Heavy rains and severe thunderstorms continued to batter the Deep South Monday evening, stretching from Florida to North Carolina.
Two tornadoes were reported in North Carolina near highway 94 in Tyrrell County and Beaufort County, according to an NWS trained spotter and county emergency management reports.
Reports of heavy rain leading to flash flooding, severe storms producing large hail and damaging winds were also reported in Alabama, Florida and North Carolina. A downed tree is blocked both northbound lanes of US-19, one mile southwest of Nash, Jefferson County, Fla., according to county emergency management reports.
More than 5,000 U.S. flights were delayed with an additional 402 canceled late Monday evening, according to FlightStats.

Thunderstorms ramped up Sunday night across the Deep South with one storm producing a tornado near Taylorsville, Miss. This twister damaged houses, brought down trees and power lines and left multiple people injured.

6:20 p.m. EDT Monday: A downed tree is blocking both northbound lanes of US-19, one mile SW of Nash, Jefferson County, Fla., reports county emergency management.
5:52 p.m. EDT Monday: Hail one inch in diameter reported in Guadalupe County, Texas, according to CoCoRahs.
5:00 p.m. EDT Monday: A tornado has been reported near Gum Neck, Tyrrell County, N.C., according to county fire department and rescue.
4:26 p.m. EDT Monday: "Another storm moving near Bath, N.C., is capable of producing a tornado," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.
4:09 p.m. EDT Monday: A tornado has been reported near Belhaven, Beaufort County, N.C., according to the 911 call center. A NWS spotter reported a tornado on the ground at Ponzer, NC at 4:08 p.m.
"The storm producing the tornado was moving toward mainland Hyde, Tyrrell and Washington counties," AccuWeathercom Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said. "The storm has the potential to cross highways 94 and 64."
3:32 p.m. EDT Monday: Highway 84 and several county roads are closed due to flooding near Donaldsonville, Seminole County, Ga., reports 911 call center.
2:40 p.m. EDT Monday: "The main threat for damaging winds and a few tornadoes will shift from near Tallahassee, Fla. to Valdosta and Savannah, Ga., over the next couple of hours. Heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding problems. Also, there is going to be a threat that develops farther north from Charleston, S.C., through Wilmington, N.C.," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Edwards said.
