In the wake of over an inch of rain and suspended practice at Augusta National Golf Club, Ga., the weather is likely to be rain free for the main rounds Thursday through Sunday.
More than eight hours of showers and thunderstorms on Monday delivered 1.23 inches of rain to the Augusta, Ga., area. However, the atmosphere may have rained itself out around Augusta through the weekend.

Cool weather will continue on Wednesday with temperatures peaking in the lower 70s. While most of the day will again be free of rain, a brief pop-up shower cannot be ruled out during the afternoon for the Par 3 tournament.

Eisenhower Tree Removed After Ice Storm
Expensive Winter for Storm Cleanup

No rain is in the offing for the main rounds Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with sunshine and a day-to-day warming trend.

A building area of high pressure will provide ideal golfing conditions with temperatures climbing well into the 70s Thursday and Friday. Highs in the 80s are forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
Players have commented on how the course looks and plays different this year due to less trees.
Southern ice storms caused extensive property, tree and landscape damage over the winter, causing headaches for cleanup crews at Augusta and other golf courses in the region.
Augusta National lost a senior member of the club this past winter. The loblolly pine on hole number 17, known as the Eisenhower Tree, was heavily damaged in a February ice storm. The tree had to be removed as a result.
