Detroit has officially broke the record of their snowiest winter ever with an annual snowfall of 94.8 inches. The previous record was set during the 1880-81 winter season with an annual total of 93.6 inches of snow.
"They saw almost two and a half times their annual average this year," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Stephen Travis said.
Despite an additional 3.1 inches of snowfall Monday night into Tuesday, the winterlike chill will fade late in the week.

Tuesday's wintery weather forced the postponement of the series opener at Comerica Park between the Tigers and Indians. No makeup date has been set as of Tuesday night.
"It will trend warmer with highs in the high 40s on Wednesday," Travis said. "It will feel warmer, but it is still below the average."
Overnight temperatures will drop to just above freezing. Cold air will linger overnight until Thursday when the blast of a warm wind will kick in from the south.
"Thursday is looking to be the nicest day of the week," he said. "There will be low humidity and a fair amount of sunshine, so by far Thursday is the highlight of the week."
By Friday, the sun will dissipate as a chance for a few showers will return to the city. The clouds will keep temperatures down Friday with highs nearing the mid-50s, he said.

The city will have a chance to dry out Saturday as clouds remain heavy in the area and temperatures stay slightly below average.
Easter Sunday will be a dreary day as well, with no break in the clouds and the chance for rain to prevail.
