DC Faces a Soaking After a Mild Sunday

While several mild days are in store for the new week, Washington, D.C., also faces a soaking.
As less wind blows underneath a good deal of sunshine, temperatures on Sunday will rise into the lower 60s in the afternoon.
It will be a great afternoon to get outside for a walk, run or any other outdoor activity.
The mild weather, however, will not last. Monday will instead turn increasingly rainy as a storm system from the Gulf of Mexico tracks northeastward.

The rain will persist, heavily at times, through Monday evening with amounts on the order of around an inch.

Widespread flash flooding is not expected, but there could be isolated issues in poor drainage areas. The main impacts of the rain will be an increased use in umbrellas and some cancellations to outdoor plans.
Motorists should prepare for slow downs and reduced visibilities, while airline passengers may encounter delays.

In the wake of the rain, temperatures will rebound to around 65 F on Tuesday. Brisk winds will blow on Wednesday, but another surge of warmth is expected later in the week.
