National Weather Summary for October 25,2013 from weatherunderground.com

Weather Underground midday recap for Friday,October 25,2013.

A ridge of high pressure over the Eastern states maintained dry and mild conditions across most of the East, while a few scattered showers persisted across the Great Lakes and Northeast on Friday. A low pressure system over eastern Canada allowed for cool air to move over the Great Lakes, which allowed for areas of snow and rain to develop. Chilly Fall conditions spread across the Eastern Valleys with this system as it pushed cool air in from Canada. Frost and freeze advisories remained in effect across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys, as well as the Mid-Atlantic states and Southeast. Overnight low temperatures dropped into the 40s even as far south as the Gulf states. Daytime highs across these areas ranged in the 50s and 60s, about 10 to 15 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Meanwhile, out West, a few showers and thunderstorms spread across the Desert Southwest on Friday. Heavy rainfall and significant storms were not anticipated in these areas. The rest of the West Coast remained mild and dry as a ridge of high pressure remained the dominant weather feature.
