Weather Underground midday recap for Thursday,October 24,2013.

A ridge of high pressure continued to bring clear, mild conditions to the West Coast on Thursday, while a cold frontal boundary lingered over the Intermountain West, southern Plains and Gulf Coast.

Cool, foggy weather covered most of the West Coast during Thursday morning, which kept temperatures relatively chilly for coastal cities. Midday temperatures ranged between the 50s and 60s in Washington and Oregon, while temperatures ranged between the 70s and 80s in the southern California and Arizona deserts. Tuscon, Arizona recorded a midday high of 84 degrees, while Phoenix Deer Valley, Arizona recorded a midday high of 82 degrees.

Just to the east, a cold front stretched from the Intermountain West, across the southern Plains and along the Gulf Coast. Very little precipitation accompanied this front, although light showers fell in New Mexico and Texas. Cold temperatures stretched across the northern portion of the Intermountain West, the northern Plains, the Upper Midwest, and into the Mississippi Valley as a result of this cold front. West Yellowstone, Montana recorded a morning low of 17 degrees, while Hettinger, North Dakota recorded a morning low of 18 degrees.

Low pressure also lingered along the lower Ohio Valley, which drove light to moderate showers and snow showers into Michigan, the Ohio Valley and into parts of the Northeast. Ashtabula, Ohio reported a midday total of 0.74 inches of precipitation.
