National Weather Forecast for October 5,2013 from weatherunderground.com

Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,October 5,2013.

The winter storm that brought snow to the northern Rockies and northern Plains will move further into the Midwest on Saturday. As the system moves eastward, snow showers will turn to rain showers. Snow showers may persist early on Saturday for parts of the High Plains, changing to rain as it moves further into the center of the country. A warm front will continue to extend eastward from this system, moving over the Great Lakes, while a cold front extends southward from this system down the Plains and moving over the Mississippi River Valley. There is a chance that showers and thunderstorms may turn severe in between these fronts with threats of strong winds and large hail.

Meanwhile to the south, in the Gulf of Mexico, Tropical Storm Karen will continue approaching the northern Gulf Coast on Saturday. The system will get pushed eastward by the cold front moving across the Mississippi River Valley and into the Eastern states. Regardless of whether Karen maintains Tropical Storm strength or not by the time it makes landfall, the system will bring increasingly windy and rainy conditions to southern Louisiana on Saturday, moving into the panhandle of Florida.
