Cold Air, Snow in No Hurry to Reach NYC

While waves of cold air and snowflakes will reach the Midwest this weekend and the Appalachians early next week, real chill and snow are still a little way off for New York City.
Cooler air will make its way in over the weekend into early next week with highs projected to be within a few degrees of 60, or close to normal.
The cool air will filter in following a weak storm that can bring a bit of rain Saturday night.

However, with the sun out Sunday and Monday, it will feel warmer than the actual temperature.
As additional waves of cold air bringing some snow showers flow through the Midwest, some chilly air will break across the Appalachians during the middle and latter part of next week.

The pattern later next week can produce the lowest daytime temperatures of the season throughout the region, along with the lowest nighttime temperatures for the city.
Highs most days next Thursday through next Sunday are likely to be in the 50s with nighttime lows within a couple degrees of 40.
No snow in the offing through the end of October for the city, but there is the potential for colder air with gusty winds at the end of the month.
