Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,December 17,2014

A Pacific system will bring unsettled weather to the West Coast on Wednesday, while a low pressure system will develop along the coast of New England.

A low pressure system will move onshore over northern California and southern Oregon on Wednesday. This system will usher light to moderate precipitation across the Pacific Northwest, while moderate to heavy rain will spread across a large portion of California. As this moisture moves eastward, it will trigger widespread snow showers across the Cascades, the Sierra Nevada, the Great Basin and the Rockies. During the afternoon and evening, an area of low pressure will emerge over the southern high Plains. As this system draws moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, moderate to heavy rain will develop across the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley. In addition, light snow showers will occur across the central Plains. The northern Plains will stay mostly clear of precipitation.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will deepen over the coast of New England. A mixture of heavy snow showers and freezing rain will impact interior New England. There will also be a chance of rain and snow across the interior Mid-Atlantic. Light snow showers will trail this system over the Great Lakes and the upper Midwest. The southern Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast will continue to experience calm weather conditions on Wednesday.
