Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,December 28,2014
A
cold front will extend from the eastern Great Lakes to the lower
Mississippi Valley on Sunday, while an area of low pressure will move
across the Intermountain West.
An extensive cold frontal boundary will stretch across the lower Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley, the interior Mid-Atlantic and the eastern Great Lakes. An area of low pressure will develop along the southern tier of the cold front, focusing over the central Gulf Coast. As this system draws moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, moderate rain and thunderstorms will develop over the central Gulf Coast. Light to moderate rain will also be possible over the western Gulf Coast, the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and the southern Mid-Atlantic. In addition, a mixture of rain and snow will develop ahead of the aforementioned cold front over the northern Mid-Atlantic and interior New England. Light to moderate rain can be expected along the coast of New England. Conditions will stay relatively clear across the southeastern corner of the country on Sunday.
Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure will drift south southeastward over the Pacific Northwest and the Intermountain West. This system will bring light to moderate snow showers to the Cascades, the Wasatch and the Rockies. Heavy snow showers will be possible along favorable mountain slopes. An onshore flow from the Pacific will bring light rain to the coats of Washington and Oregon, while mixed precipitation is forecast to affect the Oregon Coast Range. High pressure will keep weather conditions calm across the Southwest, the southern Rockies and the southern Plains on Sunday.
