Frigid air will linger over the Chicago area as snow showers stretch over the weekend.
Temperatures will hover between the 20s and 30s throughout the weekend. Saturday should be the warmest day of the week hitting above freezing.
Overnight, temperatures will swing from the single digits to the mid-teens.

Skies will stay dry and sunny until Saturday when clouds cover the metro area and snow begins to fall. Snow showers will kick off in the afternoon and continue into Sunday, according to AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Maggie Samuhel.
As temperatures drop into the 20s overnight, gusty winds could create the risk of blowing snow.
The storm should taper off as Sunday develops and temperatures will drop back to the 20s. Combined with winds and cloudy skies, AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures will be at the 0 F mark.
As the holiday period ends and the newwork week kicks off on Monday, a clipper could swing through with more snow, according to Samuhel.
Temperatures will hover in the mid-teens into Wednesday.
