Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,December 14,2014

A cold frontal boundary will shift over the central third of the country on Sunday, while a Pacific system will approach the West Coast.

A cold front will extend from the northern Plains to the southern Plains on Sunday. Light to moderate snow showers will develop across the upper Intermountain West and the northern Plains. A strong low pressure system will emerge over the central Plains, bringing a chance of severe weather to the southern and central Plains. As this system draws moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, a mixture of heavy snow and freezing rain will impact eastern Colorado, southeast Wyoming, Nebraska and southern South Dakota. Strong thunderstorms will also fire up over Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, western Missouri, Arkansas and western Louisiana. Light to moderate snow showers will trail this system over the central and southern Rockies. High pressure will keep conditions relatively clear across the Deep South, the Southeast and the southern Mid-Atlantic. There will be a slight chance of scattered showers across the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and the interior Mid-Atlantic.

Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary will approach the West Coast. Late evening rain will be possible over northwest California and southwest Oregon on Sunday. The Southwest will stay mostly clear of precipitation due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific.
