Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,December 13,2014

A cold front will advance across the western half of the country on Saturday, while an area of low pressure will linger over the Northeast.

A cold frontal boundary will extend across the upper Intermountain West, the Great Basin and the Southwest on Saturday. As this frontal boundary pushes eastward, widespread precipitation will shift across the Desert Southwest, the Great Basin and the Intermountain West. The heaviest precipitation will focus over the Four Corners, as gusty winds and high elevation snow showers will impact the central and southern Rockies. Winter storm warnings are already in place across much of Nevada in anticipation of heavy snow. Additionally, light to moderate rain will spread across the Desert Southwest and the lower elevations of the Intermountain West. Moderate snow showers will also develop across the northern Rockies. An unstable air mass will linger across the West Coast. This air mass will bring a chance of showers to portions of California and the Pacific Northwest. Scattered snow showers will remain in the forecast for the Cascades, the Sierra Nevada and the higher elevations of southern California.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will inch slowly northeastward over southeast Canada. Snow showers will persist across much of New England. There will also be a chance of light rain and snow stretching from the upper Midwest to the Ohio Valley. High pressure will keep conditions relatively clear across Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday.
