The Atlanta area will see dry, sunny weather through Thursday, but it will be short-lived as showers return to the area later this week.
Late Thursday night into Friday is when a system will develop and start to bring rain to the region, said AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Courtney Spamer.
"The heaviest rain is going to be Friday night into Saturday," Spamer said. "An inch of rain could fall in the area by Saturday night," she added.

Track the incoming rain to your precise location and stay alert to rapidly changing conditions by using MinuteCast® if you are traveling or headed outside.

Highs will hover near 60 F through Friday before dropping into the low 50s on Saturday.
For those looking to get out and do some holiday shopping this weekend, dry conditions will return for the second half of the weekend, Spamer said.
