Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,November 6,2014

A low pressure system will move across the upper Midwest on Thursday, while unsettled weather will affect the Northwest.

A cold frontal boundary will extend from the western Gulf Coast to the central Appalachians. As this frontal boundary shifts eastward, a southerly flow from the Gulf of Mexico will interact with this system to initiate rain from southern Texas to the central Gulf Coast. Temperatures are forecast to be 10 to 15 degrees below normal over western Texas. In addition, light to moderate showers will push across the Tennessee Valley and the central Appalachians.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will slide over the upper Midwest, the lower Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley. This system will usher a mixture of rain and snow over the upper Midwest, while afternoon and evening thunderstorms will fire up over the Ohio Valley and the northern Mid-Atlantic. During the late evening, moderate to heavy snow will impact the Northeast, especially along the northern Appalachians. Conditions will remain mostly clear over the southeastern corner of the country.

Out west, another round of rain will develop over the Pacific Northwest and parts of northwest California. By the late afternoon and evening, wet weather will reach upper Intermountain West, while high elevation snow showers will be possible across the northern Rockies. High pressure will continue to build over the eastern Pacific, keeping conditions warm and dry across the Desert Southwest and the Great Basin.
