Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,November 18,2014

An active weather pattern will continue to affect portions of the Midwest and the Northeast on Tuesday, while a Pacific system will approach the West Coast.

A cold frontal boundary will move eastward away from the Eastern Seaboard during Tuesday morning. A mixture of rain and snow will linger over portions of New England, while the remainder of the East Coast will stay clear of precipitation. Just to the west, a bitter cold arctic air mass will continue to spread across the northern Plains and the upper Midwest. As this cold air moves across the warm water of the Great Lakes, moderate to heavy snow showers will develop downwind of the Great Lakes over northern Michigan, northeast Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania and western New York. Light to moderate snow showers will also be possible over the northern Plains, the upper Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley and the northern Appalachians. Temperatures will remain 20 to 40 degrees below normal across the Intermountain West, the northern Plains and the upper Midwest. High pressure will keep conditions cool and dry across the southern Plains, the Deep South and the Southeast.

In addition, conditions will also stay mostly clear across the western third of the country on Tuesday. By Tuesday evening, a Pacific system will approach the West Coast, bringing a chance of rain to northwest California. .
