Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,November 14,2014
A cold front will deteriorate over the West Coast on Friday, while an area of low pressure will deepen along the Eastern Seaboard.
A slow moving cold front will shift eastward over the northwestern corner of the country. This frontal boundary will deteriorate on Friday, but not before bringing widespread precipitation to the Pacific Northwest, the Intermountain West, the Great Basin and the Southwest. During the first half of the day, moderate to heavy snow showers will develop over the northern and central Rockies, while freezing rain will be possible over the Washington and Oregon Cascades. In addition to that, showers will spread across northern California. During the afternoon and evening, snow showers will settle in across the southern Rockies and the eastern Great Basin, while wet weather will be possible across portions of southeast California, Arizona and New Mexico.
Meanwhile, an arctic high pressure system will keep temperatures 20 to 40 degrees below normal from the high Plains to the Mississippi Valley. Showers will persist over the southern tip of Texas as a pocket of energy lingers over the western Gulf of Mexico.
To the east, lake effect snow showers will continue to develop across the Great Lakes, the northern Ohio Valley and the Northeast. Light to moderate rain will also affect portions of the Mid-Atlantic and the New England coast due to a deepening low pressure system along the northern Eastern Seaboard. Conditions will remain cool and dry across the Southeast on Friday.
