Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,November 11,2014

A cold front will extend from the southern Plains to the upper Midwest on Tuesday, while a coastal system will creep up the East Coast.

A strong low pressure system will shift east northeastward over the Great Lakes and southeast Canada. This system will usher heavy snow and gusty winds over the upper Midwest and the Great Lakes, including portions of northeast Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and northern Michigan. A mixture of rain and snow will be possible downwind of the Great Lakes over northern New England. A cold front associated with this system will extend south southwestward over the Mississippi Valley and the southern Plains. As this frontal boundary shifts eastward, showers and thunderstorms will develop over the western Gulf Coast and the lower Mississippi Valley. Light to moderate rain will be possible across the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and the northern Mid-Atlantic. A mixture of rain and snow will trail this system over the central Plains, while light scattered shower showers will linger over the northern Plains. Upslope flow will trigger periods of heavy snow over portions of the central and northern Rockies. In addition, temperatures are forecast to be 20 to 30 degrees below normal from the northern high Plains to the upper Mississippi Valley.

Meanwhile, a coastal system will trek north northeastward over the southern Mid-Atlantic. Showers and thunderstorms will fire up over the coasts of Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

Out west, a ridge of high pressure will persist over the eastern Pacific, keeping conditions clear across the Pacific Northwest, the Great Basin and the Southwest.
