Pittsburgh: Cool Weekend to Precede Big Cold Blast Next Week

A cool and mainly dry weekend is in store for the Pittsburgh area, before temperatures take the plunge later next week.
A blustery and chilly day will follow on Friday in the wake of the recent rain. Winds on Friday will gust to 30 mph and when combined with the temperature and other atmospheric conditions will result in AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures in the 20s F times.
While the air will not be completely calm this weekend, less wind is in the offing when compared to Friday. Both days will bring limited sunshine. Highs will be in the 40s with RealFeel Temperatures in the 30s much of the time.

Milder weather is in store for early next week with afternoon temperatures reaching the 50s.
However, that milder weather will not last as the Polar Vortex dips toward the North Central United States and pushes arctic air southward.
While the main thrust of the cold air will be over the northern and central Plains to the western Great Lakes, it will set the stage for days of brisk and much colder conditions for the middle and latter part of next week.

During and shortly after the colder air moves in, there is a chance of one or more storms to swing up from the South Central states. It is too early to comment on the track, intensity and type of precipitation associated with any storms next week and beyond, but the pattern is favorable for one or more precipitation events during the middle of November.
