A gradual turn to milder weather will grace the New York City area before temperatures take a plunge later in the upcoming week.
While the air will not be completely calm this weekend, less wind is in the offing when compared to Friday. The weekend will end with temperatures rising to a seasonable high in the mid-50s.
Further warming will follow for early in the new week, including on Veterans Day with afternoon temperatures climbing into the lower 60s.

However, that milder weather will not last as the polar vortex dips toward the north-central United States and pushes arctic air southward.
While the main thrust of the cold air will be over the Central states and will moderate crossing the Appalachians, it will set the stage for days of brisk and cold conditions starting late in the week and on through the middle of November.

As the cold air moves in and after it becomes established, there is a significant chance that one or more storms with wintry precipitation affect the Central and Eastern states late in the week through early the following week.
