Following the storm that dumped snow from South Carolina to Maine during the weekend, cool air will filter in for the start of the week.
The drastic cool down that came through at the start of the weekend will continue into Monday.
Boston failed to reach 50 degrees on Saturday, but temperatures will struggle to even reach the lower 40s on Sunday. Temperatures Monday will remain in the 40s with a brisk west-northwest wind. The normal for this time of year in Boston is in the mid-50s.
Highs south and west to Albany, New York, and Hartford, Connecticut, will also be 10 to 15 degrees below average Sunday.
Temperatures will rebound to more seasonable values on Monday from New York state and points south, but will remain below average across New England.
AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures, when combining the cold air and the blustery conditions, will make it feel like it is in the 20s across much of New England and through the higher elevations of New York and Pennsylvania on Sunday.
The wind speed will make an impact for those traveling across the Northeast and even into parts of the South Sunday.
Early Sunday morning, winds were already sustained at 25 mph, gusting as high as 40 mph.
Airports such as LaGuardia, Newark, and Logan International could see delays through Monday. Because these are busy travel hubs, these delays could cascade to other parts of the country as well.
They gusting winds could also cause problems for those driving. According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski, "Winds will be higher over elevated surfaces, such as bridges, and where funneled between buildings."
The storm will continue to intensify as it moves farther northeastward through Monday, continuing the whipping winds for the start of the workweek. Some gusts could reach 50 mph along the New England coast and up through Maine and Atlantic Canada.

As the storm pulls away by late Monday, winds will subside. A southerly flow will bring in some warmer air into the East. Ahead of the next storm system moving from the Ohio Valley and through the Northeast Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will once again soar.
Highs midweek look to land in the upper 70s for cities like Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Mid-60s on Wednesday in Boston will precede the next wave of rain.
