Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,June 20,2014
A cold frontal boundary will extend from the southern Plains to the upper Midwest on Friday, while a separate cold front will move across the Pacific Northwest.
A cold front will continue to inch across the nations midsection on Friday. As warm, muggy air interacts with this system, showers and thunderstorms will develop across the southern and central Plains, the Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the Ohio Valley. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible over parts of the Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, a separate frontal boundary will extend across the central Appalachians and the Mid-Atlantic. Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms will develop over a handful of Mid-Atlantic states, which could lead to flash flooding in southeast Ohio, southwest Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To the south, thunderstorms along a sea breeze will continue to develop over central and southern Florida.
Out west, a cold front will move east southeastward over the northwestern corner of the country. This system will bring rainy weather to the Pacific Northwest, while showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the upper Intermountain West. The remainder of the West Coast will stay clear of wet weather due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific. Temperatures will jump into the triple digits across the Desert Southwest on Friday.
