Severe Weather Kicking Off June Across the Plains

Severe weather will continue to threaten the Plains on this first day of June with another round set to unfold on Tuesday.
Those from the Texas Panhandle to Minnesota should prepare for violent thunderstorms through Sunday night as they can bring several inches of rain, large hail and damaging wind gusts.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Omaha, Nebraska; Dodge City and Wichita, Kansas; and Minneapolis are a few of the cities in the path of these severe storms.
Anyone in this area with outdoor plans should continue to monitor the situation for severe weather as thunderstorms continue to cross the region through the nighttime hours.

While wind gusts past 65 mph and hail as large as golf balls will be the primary threats, a few isolated tornadoes are not out of the question.
"The highest danger for flash flooding will be across Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota," stated AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Evan Duffey.

The threat for some heavy and gusty thunderstorms will shift to the western Great Lakes on Monday. This includes Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Chicago.

Thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and flooding downpours on Tuesday will take aim at the I-95 corridor of the mid-Atlantic, as well as eastern New York and western New England.
The timing of these storms may cause headaches for those traveling during the afternoon rush hour around cities such as New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Also on Tuesday, another round of severe weather will target the central Plains. Places in and around Nebraska will became the target of violent thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, flooding downpours and a few tornadoes.
The stage is being set for the thunderstorms to cluster together Tuesday night and track from Nebraska to Iowa and northern Illinois, potentially unleashing a widespread swath of damaging winds. AccuWeather.com meteorologists will be monitoring the potential for this cluster to be deemed a "derecho."
The danger for the damaging thunderstorms will shift to the lower Midwest states and the Ohio Valley on Wednesday.
