While severe weather will not be as widespread as recent days, the storms have the potential to bring frequent lightning strikes, damaging wind gusts, hail and flash flooding.
The greatest risk for flash flooding will occur in portions of Minnesota and Iowa, as thunderstorms continue to bring flooding downpours to the region into the evening hours, AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.
The strongest storms in Iowa, eastern Kansas, southern Minnesota, northwestern Missouri and southeastern Nebraska also can produce a short-lived tornado.
Additional severe thunderstorms will continue to develop through the afternoon hours from the Dakotas to western Texas.
