The stage is set for drenching thunderstorms to return to Washington, D.C., Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday will definitely feel like a summer day in the nation's capital. While temperatures soar well into the 80s, humidity will increase and make the air feel more uncomfortable than it was on Monday.
The stickiness will also help fuel showers and thunderstorms to erupt in the afternoon as a storm system approaches.
Motorists heading to points west of Washington, D.C., however, will encounter a shower or thunderstorm prior to noon EDT.
AccuWeather.com meteorologists are concerned that some of Tuesday's thunderstorms in Washington D.C., will unleash gusty winds and blinding, flooding downpours.

Lightning Dangers Mount During Summer
"The timing of [Tuesday's] storms may cause headaches for those traveling during the afternoon rush hour," stated AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Lada.

Outdoor plans may be delayed or forced inside. Remember, you are close enough to be struck by lightning if you hear thunder.
A shower or thunderstorm will linger through Tuesday evening, potentially causing delays at the Washington Nationals game between the Philadelphia Phillies.
Washington, D.C., will dry out for Wednesday, but the air will remain warm with another day of highs in the upper 80s expected.
Thunderstorms will quickly return on Thursday before a dry spell unfolds for Friday and the weekend.
