The coldest air so far this fall is reaching the Northeast for the start of the new week.
A blast of cold air caused the Northeast to end the weekend on a dramatically colder note on Sunday.
Between 10 and 20 degrees separated highs on Sunday from Saturday in many communities.
A brisk wind was making the day less desirable to be outside by creating even colder AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures.
The wind will subside Sunday night and temperatures will drop into the 20s across most of the Northeast. The I-95 cities of Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., will reach or approach the freezing mark.
Those with plants still sitting on their porches will want to move them indoors before heading to bed.

Monday will turn out to be an even colder day across the Northeast's I-95 corridor.
Between Sunday and Monday, most of the Northeast is experiencing their coldest days since the spring.
The good news is that there will not be a large temperature difference in actual and RealFeel temperatures on Monday with less wind present and plenty of sunshine in control.
By Wednesday, temperatures will be back near average for the beginning of November.
Mainly dry weather continues through the early part of the week. The next storm system will move into the Ohio Valley late on Wednesday and into the East on Thursday.
The storm will be rainmaker across the East late in the week. However, AccuWeather.com meteorologists concerned for strong wind gusts to accompany the rain across the St. Lawrence Valley and New England.
Another blast of cool air and blustery winds will follow the rain for late week.

The Patriots game just looks cold. It has that November-y air to it. Late season football is always so nostalgic to me.
