Mild air will unfold across the eastern United States this week.
A major storm system stalled over the Upper Midwest and will help spread warm air across the South, Ohio Valley, mid-Atlantic, and Northeast for a time this week.Afternoon temperatures will run between 5 and 10 F above average across these areas. Some places across the South could reach as much as 15 degrees Fahrenheit above their normal high through Wednesday.
Temperatures will climb into the 60s in Philadelphia and New York City on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will climb into the 70s around Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.
Some areas in the Southeast could have highs hit the 80-degree mark.

Cities such as Columbia, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia, will be within a couple degrees of daily record highs.
"With numerous storm systems moving through, the mild air will be accompanied by clouds and rain much of the time," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson said.
This will put a cap on the warmth and may prevent folks from heading outside to enjoy the warmer air.
Warm air will struggle to reach much of New England. due to clouds and rain. However, temperatures will still climb several degrees above average in central and southern areas. In the northern tier, the air will be cold enough for snow or a wintry mix.
"The pattern will slowly shift toward a more favorable one for cold in December, " AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Ed Vallee said.
"While the Northeast will turn chilly during this time, the coldest air will be centered across the Midwest, Plains and Rockies," Vallee said.
