Warm air will surge back across the United Kingdom during the first half of the coming week.
Highs will return to the middle 20s C in England and Wales. The warm air will pour northward as an area of high pressure settles over the North Sea early in the week.
While high temperatures were near- to slightly above-normal on Sunday, temperatures will continue to trend upwards on Monday and on Tuesday in many communities as warmer air surges into the region.

On Tuesday, highs of 21-24 C (69-76 F) will be common in Northern Ireland and Scotland. In England and Wales, highs could reach 22-27 C (72-81 F).
Highs at or above 26 C (80 F) are most likely to occur in Manchester, Liverpool, Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford and London.
Highs typically range from 16-18 C (lower 60s F) in Scotland and Northern Ireland to 21 C (around 70 F) in the south of England during the middle of August.
Temperatures early next week will be held closer to normal in coastal communities along the North Sea, especially ones that face southeast. Temperatures will be kept at bay as wind flows in from the cooler water. Each day can start with areas of low cloud and fog.

Dry weather and frequent sunny spells will accompany the building warmth early this coming week, providing residents with ample opportunity to partake in outdoor activities. Be sure to apply suncream if planning to spend a significant amount of time outside.
Those who engage in strenuous activities are urged to drink plenty of water and take numerous breaks, especially where temperatures approach or hit 26 C (80 F).
Thundery showers will cut into the mild air in Northern Ireland on Tuesday before a depression moves in and cuts the surge of warmth short.
The depression's cold front will advance into the western U.K. on Wednesday afternoon. However, eastern areas will remain mild with the warmth likely to peak in eastern England.
Highs at or above 26 C (80 F) may be widespread in southeastern England, including London, at midweek before temperatures trend down later in the week.
As the cold front crosses the U.K. at midweek, additional thundery showers will erupt. Some of the rainfall could be heavy, possibly resulting in isolated flash flooding.
