Tropical Depression Twelve-E formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean Thursday afternoon off Baja California's southern tip and is forecast to slowly move toward the northwest during the next couple of days.
This system is currently no direct threat to any land areas, but heavy rain and high surf are possible in Baja California.

- Tropical Depression Twelve-E is located about 350 miles south of the southern tip of Baja California, as of Thursday afternoon.
- The depression is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Kay on Friday.
- This new system is no direct threat to Baja California, but may spread bands of locally heavy rain and eventually produce some elevated surf along the coast.
