Scattered severe thunderstorms, with damaging winds, large hail and locally heavy rain, will take aim at the northern Plains and Upper Midwest into Thursday. An isolated tornado or two are also possible.

Severe Weather Forecast
Tuesday- Forecast: A few severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Tuesday afternoon and evening across parts of Montana and the Dakotas.
- Threats: Large hail and damaging wind gusts are the primary threats, but an isolated tornado is possible.
- Cities: Bismarck, North Dakota | Aberdeen, South Dakota
Tuesday's Thunderstorm Forecast
- Forecast: Scattered severe storms are expected from parts of the Dakotas into western Minnesota.
- Threats: Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats, although an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.
- Cities: Fargo | Grand Forks | St. Cloud, Minnesota
Wednesday's Thunderstorm Forecast
- Forecast: Scattered severe storms will be possible in the Upper Midwest, including in parts of Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
- Threats: Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats, although an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.
- Cities: Duluth, Minnesota | Minneapolis/St. Paul | Sioux City, Iowa

Severe Weather Setup
A new trough of low pressure will set up over the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday and slowly drift eastward into northwestern Montana by Tuesday night. In response to this, severe thunderstorms are expected to develop over the northern Plains.
