Following a cool and wet summer for much of the United Kingdom, autumn will send the U.K. into an increasingly stormy weather pattern.
"October will likely bring the first taste of fall to the U.K., as windstorms usher in blustery conditions," AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.
These windstorms will become more likely as the season progresses with multiple named storms expected before the end of November.

The strongest winds and highest rainfall totals are expected to target northern areas of the U.K., particularly Northern Ireland and Scotland, early in the season.
"This elevated threat in the North will bring the risk for power cuts and transportation delays for areas like Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow," Roys said.
From late October into November, wind events are expected to increase in frequency throughout the rest of the British Isles.
Post-tropical cyclones from the Atlantic Ocean will add to the stormy pattern across the U.K., bringing the threat for heavy rain and locally damaging winds.
"There is the threat for a tropical feature to affect the U.K., though it will likely be in decaying stages when it does," Roys said.

The highest risk for tropical impacts will occur from late September through October.
"We don't expect this autumn to be as dry as last year in Wales, the Midlands, Scotland and southern England," Roys said.
Though southern England is predicted to become increasingly wet, frequent flash flooding is not forecast for London, according to Roys.
The wet and stormy weather pattern will result in largely near- to below-normal temperatures across the Isles, as brief cool shots sweep through the U.K. from time to time.
