A tremendous dome of high pressure centered over Sweden and Finland continues to create two different weather regimes across Europe. In the north and north-central countries, dry and warm conditions persist. Westward, across the United Kingdom, an unsettled pattern will bring untimely periods of rain and showers through the end of the week.
A band of rain will trek from west to east across the Isles on Wednesday, starting the day in Ireland and Northern Ireland, moving into Wales and Scotland midday and approaching London and the eastern Midlands late in the day.
A soaking rain will continue across eastern Scotland and England into Wednesday night before tapering off toward daybreak Thursday.
A large, spiraling upper low pressure system in the North Atlantic will cause isolated showers across the United Kingdom on Thursday, most concentrated across Ireland, Northern Ireland and western England.
