This weekend could turn out to be the wettest weekend of the summer in Seattle as a soaking rain spreads over the region.
A flip in the weather pattern will deliver rounds of rain to the city through the weekend and into next week, leading to travel delays and localized flooding.
Rainfall totals through Monday night are likely to range between one and three inches with a few spots managing to pick up over four inches.
Despite the threat of flooding, there will be some benefits to the rain. The rain, and winds associated with the rain, will help to rid the air of the wildfire smoke that has plagued the Pacific Northwest over the past two weeks.
Some people may think it feels more like autumn rather than summer this weekend as thick clouds and cooler weather moves in with the rain.
"Temperatures this weekend will generally fall into the 60s across the coastal areas of Washington, including Seattle," said AccuWeather meteorologist Brett Rathbun.
If temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday fail to climb out of the 60s, it will be the first time since the start of June that the city has seen back-to-back days with highs in the 60s.

Umbrellas and raincoats will still be needed through the middle of next week as rain lingers over the city.
However, the rain that falls on Tuesday and Wednesday is not expected to be as heavy as the rain over the weekend, reducing the threat of flooding.
