PHOTOS: Damaging Winds Whip Washington

A strong storm system moved into Washington on Saturday, delivering some rain, cool weather and powerful winds to the region.
Western Washington was one of the hardest-hit areas with wind gusts past 50 mph, strong enough bringing down entire trees and leading to widespread power outages.
Nearly 224,000 electric customers were left without power in western Washington on Saturday afternoon, many of which being located around Seattle and Tacoma, according to Puget Sound Energy.
A local news station, KING5, reported that the winds have lead to two fatalities, one being caused by a falling tree limb and the other caused by a falling tree.

"A strong cold front moved through the region on Saturday morning with strong winds in its wake," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Alyson Hoegg.
"This kind of system is not typical for late August," Hoegg continued. "[Systems like this] typically happen later in the fall and winter."
Winds are forecast to diminish heading into the start of the new week, but a bit of a breeze will remain.
Rain is also expected to continue in Seattle with the chance of rain each day through the first half of the new week.
