Dallas-area residents can look forward to a brief break from extreme heat later this week.
After high temperatures resided in the upper 90s earlier this week, daytime highs will settle in the low 80s by Thursday. A temperature near 96 F is common for this time of year.
According to AccuWeather Meteorologist Jordan Root, a front will sag into the Dallas region at the end of the week, bringing a chance for a spotty shower or thunderstorm.

"However, that front will push back northward and fizzle out heading into the weekend which will allow for sunshine and dry weather to return," Root said.
"Temperatures will return back to near normal as well," he added.
