Around 10,900 NV Energy customers lost power as rain and heavy winds lashed the city, KVVU-TV reported.
“Las Vegas received more than a month's worth of rainfall in less than two hours today. 0.45" of rain was reported, while the city averages 0.33" of rain for the entire month of August. Also, the drenching thunderstorm brought welcome relief to the heat as temperatures dropped from 101 degrees 81 degrees in an hour, thanks to the rain,” said weather.com meteorologist Quincy Vagell.

The deluge of rainfall flooded multiple roadways in the area, prompting road closures and causing several accidents, according to the Las Vegas Sun. Some motorists stranded in floodwaters were rescued, the report added.
At least 679 lightning strikes were reported in the area during the storm, Vagell said. The system has since died down.
