Another round of scorching heat is impacting millions of people from Spain to Poland, and no relief is expected until next week.
Meanwhile, following some brief relief in France and Germany, unseasonable heat has returned and will last into Saturday before another shot of cooler air arrives.
The setup for this unseasonable heat is a slow-moving storm to the northwest of the British Isles and high pressure over eastern Europe which will combine to promote a strong southwest flow from northern Africa and Spain into northern and central Europe.

Temperatures soared past 32 C (90 F) for seventh time this summer in Paris on Monday, and after a brief cooldown on Tuesday, unseasonable warmth returned on Wednesday and will continue into the weekend with high temperatures ranging from 27-29 C (80-84 F).
The temperature soared to 35 C (95 F) in Berlin on Tuesday ahead of the cold front. This front brought showers to Berlin Tuesday night along with much cooler air on Wednesday when the high was near 27 C (80 F). Heat returned to Berlin on Thursday as the high again soared to 35 C (95 F). Friday will be the hottest day of the week in Berlin as highs range from 36-38 C (96-100 F). The all-time high temperature in Berlin is 38.1 C (100.6 F) from July 11, 1959.
Europe: Hot in the South and East
The cold front will weaken and never reach Warsaw, keeping sweltering heat in place right into next week. The high temperature is expected to surpass 32 C (90 F) each day through Saturday. Saturday could be the hottest day August day on record in Warsaw with temperatures ranging from 36-37 C (96-99 F) across the region. The current all-time August high temperature is 36.4 C (97.5 F) from 1994.
Residents are reminded to drink plenty of water and never to leave kids or pets unattended in a sealed car. Strenuous activities should be avoided during the midday and afternoon hours, the hottest times of the day. If that is not possible, be sure to take frequent breaks.

The front will also not be able to sweep the heat away from Madrid, setting the stage for the heat to build eastward into northern Italy, Czech Republic and Austria. Cities such as Milan, Florence, Budapest and Prague will all experience several days of extreme heat.
A reinforcing shot of heat will surge northeastward from Spain through much of Europe again next week leading additional days of extreme heat for areas from France to Poland and Italy into the Balkans.
